I never thought i'd write this post one day !

Have been getting quite a few comments on whether IT is not Like That was written by me, or whether i lifted it from some other source. Well this post should put to rest any such questions, present or future.

well first things first : The post IT is not Like That is MY ORIGINAL WORK. It is not "...yavaag foreign ge ?" that is the title of that post, instead it is "IT is not like that" and it shall remain that way !. It is my experience that is in the post and mine alone, unless i have specifically mentioned otherwise.

The post in question has been doing the rounds for quite sometime now, and quite a few have posted it in their blog as their own work. While some have mentioned that they got it as a forward, a few more though have taken the trouble to find out who the original author is and have got back to me. Bloggers such as Pradeep Kishore, Arjun , Bangloreguy and Jaison are among the few who took the trouble of giving due credits for my post, on their blog.

What pushed me into writing this post on plagiarism was a comment thanks to Ambar, directing me to this site http://vijireflections.blogspot.com/2005/07/eppo-foreign-pore.html which has my post translated in tamil(without my knowledge of course) . The link took me to the copy-cat-blogger who has tried her best to make the post look like it's her original composition. That she has failed pathetically at it is something one does not need a microscope to prove.

For those who do not want to believe that i wrote the post in question, i cannot do much. However, for those who are prepared to see reason, i'd like to show a few obvious flaws in her translated post. Oh by the way, she claims that she wrote this post an year ago and later deleted it to add it back again two weeks after i posted mine !. While she also claims a lot of things in the post as her own experience with people, the above claim is as much a bunch of crap as the ones in her post.

Check this out....

In my post, i write :

"Recently one of my cousins went onsite, and i being the scape goat "

She changes it to :

"Recently one of my friends went onsite, and I being the scape goat "

Oh , yeah i got it, that's because her cousin apparantly didn't go onsite, while mine did and going by what she has claimed my cousin is definitely a friend of hers!

-----------------------------
In my post, i write :

"I was being murdered inch by inch, neat and clean. My reputation in tatters."

In her post, she changes it to :

"Despite the fact that I only finished B.E last year & started to work, I was being murdered inch by inch, neat and clean. My reputation in tatters."

Oh got it, she wants to add some flavor of her own in the post while still conveniently copying what i have written.
-------------------------------------------

In my post, i write :

"I have been most unfortunate in this case, so much so that if i had got a call to abort the travel 2 seconds later than what i got, i might have had to jump off the plane mid-air."

In her post, she censors it to :

"If I had got a call to abort the travel 2 seconds later than what I got, I might have had to jump off the plane mid-air."

Guess, she didn't like the initial sentence i wrote. how thoughtful. bliss bliss...

-------------------------------
This one nails it ....

In my post, i write :

"well one aunty even had the nerve to ask me "did you have a fight with your manager ?"..well i was kind enough to say "no aunty, project got scrapped "

She changes it to :

"Well, one aunty even had the nerve to ask her son "did you have a fight with your manager?". well he was kind enough to say "no aunty, project got scrapped "

I wonder who that person is who calls his own mother "aunty" !

-----------------------------

this one is a snippet of her post :

"My friend made the blatant suicidal mistake of attending a social gathering full of aunties and uncles, and asked company he worked for, and he answered him hoping he would stop there. however , uncle had no such intention and carried on " endha language ?"...though stunned, i replied back "c sharp uncle"

first she claims her friend made a suicidal mistake, and then she makes a suisidal mistake of eating up one word and just writes "and asked company he worked for". Oh and when uncle asks her friend a question, she answers for her friend instead "i replied back "c sharp uncle"". guess she forgot to change the "i" to "he" here !

------------------------------
while i go on to write a few more paragraphs later, i guess she was too lazy to copy those, or probably she ran out of friends whom she could claim had had those experience and instead she cuts short the post by not inluding a few paragraphs. phew ! there, what an angel !, she spared me a slice of her non-existant pie !

------------------------------

That is enough proof i suppose that SHE has not written the post, though i am pretty sure that the blatant mistakes in her post are definitely her own doing. I'd be a fool to say she copied my post, a more better word, to convey what she did to my post, would be a word i cannot print here !
I'll not ask her to delete the post, instead i'll direct those people, who doubt that i didn't write the post on my blog, to her post and let them decide what to believe.

I am sure if she reads this post of mine, she'll be in a position to rectify the humungous mistakes in her post, but is that all ? so that means she'll copy a few more of my posts and claim it as either her's or her friends. In effect she'll have my persona in no time. This probably amounts to identity theft in a weird sort of way. Guess the next time i have an headache, she'll be the one who'll be writing in her blog "Yesterday my friend had a severe headache, and I took aspirin !"

I understand that this has not been very pleasant read, as it has not been for me to write. Though i did restrain myself these many days while quite a few people used my post and claimed it as theirs, this was the last straw....

Like David Spade shouts out on comedy central : "There i said it !"

Very well written and your analysis is typical. I am one of those who wanted to see such a blog post about those lazy, stupid, Copy-cats.

Many will enjoy reading it, though it was pain for you write this.

Does she copy the comments :-)) I hope not.

Hey Amber
nobody gives a damn whether a loser like you believes that juggi wrote it or otherwise.

And Viji
We understand the kind of unpopular bitch that you must have been in school.Stop plagarising others work to attract attention.
What next ? Will you copy Harry potter and add write a post claiming it is yours after making your usual spelling a gramatical errors

@Jagadish: Dude, thanks for the snide remarks. You make it sound like I had something to do with the plagiarism! Talk about shooting the messenger.

@Kiran: If it weren't for a "loser" like me, jagadish would never have found out about the plagiarism. Again, don't shoot the messenger.

Let me clarify, I didn't decide who was guilty and who was not. Simply because I had no way to. Timestamps by blogspot are unreliable. Jagadish asked me to take his word for it. But in all fairness, how can I, or anyone else for that matter, just take someone's word for it?

Peace.

Looks like she has removed the post. Hope she has done it out of good sense. I have seen a lot of people doing a copy-paste from other sources and convinently forgetting to ask for permission, maybe that can be pardoned, but this was a clear case of using somebody's work and claiming it as his/her original. I hope this brings in more awareness among bloggers.

i couldnt reach the link( to viji's alleged copied post) u provided..perhaps it ws removed.

a blog is s'pposed to be a forum for placing views-about him/herself.copying and stealing reflects complexes in one's personality.its too bad even to be talked about.

i have seen your blog for the first time last evening and read almost all ur archives too.it ws hilarious and bought back my energy.i could sense a pattern in your writing style due to continuous reading of one post to another.you write profoundly, give explicit details, never tire of presenting a wholesome picture.and you stick to your vocabulary.

and "it is not like that" blended into the other posts and doesnt stand out like a stick finger.its not copied material.i cant be wrong in my deduction

Good Post Maga!
I guess all the points you highlighted show how she has idiotically taken ur post, made a few changes and put it as hers.

Jagadish, I guess this settles it.She's a habitual plagiarist. She's taken down the post from her blog with NO explanation. She's started deleting all comments about the issue.

Even her latest post is totally copied. Its a poem which she's not attributed to the source, and actually made slight changes! Amazingly blatant! Check out
http://hoad.ethicalmanifold.net/archives/000042.html#000042

Thats the original poem, and she's posted it unattributed.

Jaggi/Guys,

I was that guy/cousin which Jaggi mentioned as the one who went onsite :), I know what would have gone thro' him during those days & I also know each & every character he mentions in that blog of his:). I never had any doubt that this post was written by him, ever since I got the first forward.
So if some body has any doubts, clear it off it is clearly Jaggi's post :D. It is his class/nice writing of facts that gained his blog that much of publicity.

Good writing, keep it going.

Chandra.

Ambar: nothing against you or anyone who brings things to light. Ideally i would have liked you to have gone through her post to decide who might have copied. I am sure your intentions were good, just that i was in no mood to prove that i wrote that post. Again, thanks for putting up that post on your blog on plagiarism.

Sainath: :D...those are very good observations ;)...hmmm, it wasn't about ego clashes by the way. It's this comment of her's "I wrote this blog a year ago and later deleted it !", that pulled the wrong nerve !

anonymous: yeah, hopefully such things will not happen in future. There have been quite a few bloggers who have had to go through this. On one instance a guy had copied the whole look and feel of a blog, including the profile from this girl !. This was her reply http://www.meghalomania.com/2005/01/30/identity-theft/

hi,

viji did not look like a person who could write all this. so when i first came to her blog, i could see no conviction in what she wrote. the blog and her writing were not coherent. so i was not a frequent visitor. when i read all the comments today, i decided to do a little bit of google search. i searched all her poems on google... like i took one line (that i knew for certain was not written by her), put it in quotes and ran a search.. and what did i land at? poems from electpress.com.. all of them... they i guess inspired her to copy them on to her site... i think thats what she understands by inspiration.
even the last post.
for this piece i googled and found this link...
http://hoad.ethicalmanifold.net/archives/000042.html

its not entirely her fault. its a whole lot of guys swooning over... and that encouraged her to be that way.. every one wants attenion. and she thought this is the best way to get some...

i wish you luck.

Juggs,
sorry for whatever happened and kudos to your sharp analysis (of this post) and patience.

Firstly, we've to acknowledge that even though we're living in a country with strong IP protection laws, no one religiously follows (as in US) and that's probably because the punishments for not following them aren't strong enough (again as in US). This apart, I don't think all the people have the requisite maturity to appreciate the divinity of IP sharing... let alone ethics. Rubbing salt over the wound, is the environment where identity is hidden (the Internet).

This makes me recollect a good suggestion that PJ had given, sometime back to unforgiven. You would have understood by now, that your writing/humour/critics are not only appreciated by the people who know you well but also by complete strangers. Juggs, you've the flair and an audience; You should start writing... I'm certain that one day, you would love being Jagadish, the writer. And please don't expose your master-pieces to open environments where unintended audiences galore (like blog). I wish you all the fortunes!

By the way did you like the latest HP sequel?
